Campaign Story

Establishment of a vocational training centre for displaced women, offering training in sewing, crafts and business management. Nearly 150 women have already benefited from these trainings and started their own small businesses.
Construction of 10 social housing units to temporarily house the most vulnerable displaced women, while waiting for them to be able to integrate permanently.
Establishment of agricultural cooperatives enabling women to grow food and market garden crops, thereby improving their food security and income.
Organization of awareness campaigns on women's rights, female entrepreneurship and the prevention of gender-based violence, benefiting more than 1000 people in the community.
Provision of emergency kits (food, hygiene items, blankets) for 300 of the most deprived displaced women.
Thanks to these various initiatives, we are already seeing a clear improvement in the living conditions and economic empowerment of displaced women in Sanankoroba. We will continue our efforts in the coming months to consolidate these achievements.

The region of Koulikoro in Mali faces many challenges in terms of socio-economic development, particularly in the area of women's empowerment. The circle of Kati and more particularly the commune of Sanankoroba, has been welcoming for several years around sixty internally displaced women fleeing recurring conflicts in other regions of the country. These women find themselves in a situation of great precariousness, without stable means of subsistence.
Faced with this situation, the NGO International Solidarity for Africa (SIA) wishes to set up a project aimed at strengthening the economic empowerment of these displaced women through market gardening activities. This project is part of the overall strategy of SIA to support vulnerable populations and promote gender equality. It also responds to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDGs 1, 5 and 8 relating to poverty reduction, women's empowerment and the promotion of decent work.
A field study carried out by SIA made it possible to identify the specific needs of this community of displaced women and to define the most relevant areas of intervention. Thus, strengthening their technical and entrepreneurial capacities in the field of market gardening, as well as facilitating their access to inputs and markets, appeared as essential levers for sustainably improving their living conditions.
